Simple Self-Care: Shower Steamers

How to turn an everyday shower into a luxury spa experience.

Sometimes we don’t have time to take a bath, don’t have a bathtub or are just not a fan of baths. Using a shower steamer is a simple way to elevate your daily routine as you wash away a hectic day or wake yourself up and refresh your energy with soothing or invigorating aromatherapy. But what exactly are shower steamers, what goes into them, and why should you consider adding them to your routine?

What Are Shower Steamers?

Shower steamers, often called shower bombs, are small tablets designed to release essential oils and soothing scents when exposed to the steam and water of a hot shower. Unlike bath bombs, which dissolve in bathwater, shower steamers sit on the shower floor and gradually fizz, infusing the air with therapeutic aromas.

Ingredients in our Shower Steamers

·      Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate): This is the primary base ingredient, helping the steamer fizz and dissolve gradually.

·      Citric Acid: Combined with baking soda, citric acid creates the fizzing reaction when water hits the steamer.

·      Essential Oils or Fragrance Oils: These provide fragrance and therapeutic benefits. Popular choices include eucalyptus for congestion relief, lavender for relaxation, and peppermint for an energizing boost. Most of our blends are based in essential oils, but we do at times use small amounts of fragrance oils like Sandalwood for sustainability purposes.

·      Kokum or Cocoa Butter: The butter works as a binder for the rest of the ingredients.

·      Botanicals, Seeds, or Natural Salts: Dried botanicals, natural salts or seeds are added for extra benefits and because they make the shower steamers prettier!

Benefits of Using Shower Steamers

·      Aromatherapy: The essential oils released in the steam can help uplift your mood, promote relaxation, or invigorate your senses depending on the blend you choose.

·      Respiratory Relief: Scents like eucalyptus and peppermint can help clear nasal passages, making shower steamers especially beneficial during allergy season or when you have a cold.

·      Stress Reduction: Taking a moment to breathe in calming scents like lavender or chamomile can help melt away daily stress and tension.

·      Easy Self-Care: Shower steamers require no extra time or effort—just pop one in the corner of your shower and let it work its magic while you go about your normal shower routine.

Whether you’re looking to unwind, boost your energy, or simply add a pleasant fragrance to your shower, these little aromatherapy bombs are a simple and effective self-care tool that bring luxury spa vibes to your every day.
