Live Every Day with Intention

Live Every Day with Intention

“The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts” – Author Unknown

Intentions –  a buzzword at the start of every new year, everyone promising to do this or that. What if I told you that intentions can be set anytime that works for you, not on a set schedule, with any pressure of sticking to it or following through. How about just living your days with intentionality and being more mindful? No pressure, just a different mindset.

Small daily choices matter, from the moment you wake up to the time you lay your head down to sleep. Start your day with a single intention or affirmation. Think of how you want to show up that day. If you read tarot cards, shuffle your deck with the thought of how you want to show up for the day and see what card jumps out at you.

If during the day you find yourself in a situation or stressed out, take a breath or give yourself a moment before you respond. Make sure your response is intentional (in a good way haha).

Make your choices more mindful, instead of rushing through your day, and try to be more present. For instance, when you are showering, pop a shower steamer in and take a few minutes to inhale the aromas. When drinking your coffee, don’t just gulp it down, go sit for a few minutes outside if you can, and enjoy the morning waking up around you as you savor your sips. Create less noise. When you have a break in the day, sit in the quiet outside listening to nature, don’t just sit doomscrolling on your phone.

Schedule time for yourself within your day and either in the morning or in the evening, indulge in an intentional ritual. Light a candle, pick your affirmation or intention and visualize you in the moment. Repeat your intention. Ideas could be “I love every part of who I am, I am enough” and gather pieces that reflect that intention - something you bought yourself, your favorite perfume, a color that reflects self-love such as a pink candle, or crystal. If you want to set an intention for joy, the color yellow will resonate with joy. Simply writing “notes to self” with positive affirmations like “It’s okay to be perfectly imperfect” can do a lot for your mindset as small as it seems.

And at the end of the day, take a few minutes to reflect on the day, express gratitude for any and all good from the day. Even if something bad happened, try to find the part you are grateful for, or a lesson learned. These little moments of mindfulness and intentionality can help shape your routine and mold a mindset of strength and positivity.
